girls

A little 25 week action for ya!!

We got some great news this week! We found out that we are indeed having two little girls. I've had a lot of fun this week dreaming, scheming, and planning their nursery. Of course I leave in a couple of weeks to go to the states so what I don't accomplish by then (mostly everything!) will be done when I come back!

So, here's a fun game for you guys! We're not telling the names of the babies, but I will provide the letters in both of their names! Happy guessing! (There are one or two people who actually do know- they cannot play!!)

J-O-Y

Tonight I cried.

I thought back to that day I found out I was pregnant. THAT was a day of crying. October 16, 2009. Alan and I had been married just one day shy of 5 months. And I was late. Very late. I took two pregnancy tests (because I didn't believe the first one that said I was positive. I swore it was lying.) just to be sure, and we knew it was true. I sat stunned. And I cried. I am often known for spouting off and quoting my thoughts and opinions on pretty much everything, and I am often humbled when God does something different than "my plan," but this, this was an entirely different ballpark. 2 years we said we'd wait to start trying to have kids. That I was adamant on, but after almost 5 months of marriage, there I sat, crying, over (as one dear friend puts it) "the death of my expectations."

A week and a half later, and still a lot shocked, I went for my first OB appt. and got yet another surprise- TWINS. I cried that day too. Not just one baby, which I was beginning to think was more than manageable, but two. Two babies. Twins.

Fast forward 16 weeks through all the days spent vomitting, the IV's, the belly pics and fun maternity clothes, to today, January 12, I cried again alltogether for a different reason.

You see when the death of my expectations occured, something more beautiful was born. Life. Two tiny little humans being formed inside of me. This week they've been kicking... a lot. Last night Alan got to feel them for the first time- we both laughed and he had the sweetest grin on his face that I wish I could have captured for all eternity. God has bore a whole new kind of joy in me. One that eagerly awaits our babies arrivals. To imagine that our heavenly father has blessed us with double miracles that will cling to us for their every need! I daydream about walking them to the park and spreading out a big blanket for us all to lay on as I read to them and teach them about our God in everything that surrounds us. What a joy to know we have an eager audience awaiting all we have to give them. I am amazed and in awe of this life He's creating and with each little kick or jab, I find it wonderful and delightful.

In the death of my expectations, our God has restarted my heart, and refueled my passion for all things Him. To love and know Him and to grow in knowledge and depth of insight so I may pass it on to our children that they may know and follow after our Lord. It's as if the world is in full bloom all around me. There are many mountains and valleys in our walk; I am fully aware of that, but today I am so thankful for the mountain He has set me on.

You have made known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand.

Babies Firsts!!

Over the last two days we received two really sweet gifts for our little "girls." I say "girls" because we're still not entirely sure of their sexes, but next week for I am going for a 3-D ultrasound that should hopefully clarify a few things!

My dad and Liz sent us these super cute UNLV Runnin' Rebels shirts and
it absolutely made my day! When I was 5 I had a UNLV cheerleader costume and I can't wait to get them for our little girl/s when they get a little older! Thanks Dad and Liz for their first official sports gear!

GO REBELS!
Tia Goody brought the girls their first onesies and matching little pants with ruffled ankles! So super cute. We really appreciate all the sweet gifts, emails, prayers, and encouragement we are getting from all of our friends and family.

I can't wait to meet our sweet little ones!

Over the next week I'll post some updated pics from our house makeover- we moved our bedroom and will begin working on the nursery soon!!

20 weeks! Half Way There

Today ends my 20th week, and I am now entering into the 2nd half of my pregnancy. I feel great! No more throwing up, my energy is definitely back and my belly is getting more and more round. I can't believe how quickly 20 weeks has gone by (well really just 14 weeks because we found out at 6 weeks!). I am spending more and more of my time dreaming of holding our sweet little babies and creating a nursery for them in which they will feel loved and nurtured. I have lots of ideas, but we still don't have any clear answers as to what we're actually having.

The doctor can only tell me that we're having 1 girl and because of the way our other little one is positioned she just can't get a clear view. I may go and have a 2nd sonogram done this next week because I am so anxious to find out so we can start getting prepared! Cribs and changing table have been ordered, but my mind is still dreaming of all the fun possibilities for a sweet girl room sans frills or a neutral room for a little boy and girl!

Have any ideas? What would be a good theme for a boy/girl or girl/girl? I found some cute hippy flowers theme stuff- no frills for our babies!

Enjoy the 20 week picture!

Wednesday, January 6, 2010

So I am really hoping to post later today the sexes of our little babies growing away in my not-so-little belly!! YAY! Pray for us today. Alan won't be able to make the Dr.'s appt. He's working his first day with teams (more on that later) so I am flying solo at my Dr.'s appt. I have made little envelopes for "Baby 1" and "Baby 2" and if the Dr. can tell the sexes then I will have her write them on slips of paper and seal them in the envelopes until Alan and I can open them together!!
